ORDERING INFORMATION

Format: Protein G-purified antibody in PBS, pH 7.4

BACKGROUND

Streptococcus pyogenes is the sole species of Lancefield group A and is often called group A streptococcus (GAS), because it displays streptococcal group A antigen on its cell wall.

Infections due to certain strains of S. pyogenes can be associated with the release of bacterial toxins. Throat infections associated with release of certain toxins lead to scarlet fever. Other toxigenic S. pyogenes infections may lead to streptococcal toxic shock syndrome, which can be life-threatening. S. pyogenes can also cause disease in the form of postinfectious syndromes. These autoimmune-mediated complications follow a small percentage of infections and include rheumatic fever and acute postinfectious glomerulonephritis.

SPECIFICATION SUMMARY

Antigen: UV-inactivated Strep. pyogenes cells (ATCC #12344).

Host Species: Mouse

Specificity: These antibodies recognize Group A Streptococci. They do not cross-react with Streptococcus groups B through G, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium dyptheriae, Streptococcus salivarius, or Micrococcus mucilagines.

APPLICATIONS

These antibodies have been qualified for use in ELISA to detect Group A Streptococci. Endusers should determine optimal concentrations for their applications.

DILUTION INSTRUCTIONS

Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system.

STORAGE AND STABILITY

These antibodies are stable for at least one (1) year at -20o to -70oC. Store product in appropriate aliquots to avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

For in vitro investigational use only. Not intended for use in therapeutic or diagnostic procedures.
